Sycamore Gap Gift – Hanging Decoration

What makes our Sycamore Gap gift special?

Our design honours the amazing county of Northumberland. A hidden treasure which boasts a UNESCO World Heritage site, stunning coastlines, historic houses, rugged landscapes and fabulous people – we have it all and that’s what makes Northumberland Our Happy Place!

We designed this gift a few years ago, focusing on the iconic image of Sycamore Gap at Hadrian’s Wall, set against the dark skies Northumberland is famed for, with a backdrop of the Northern lights – all wrapped up and printed onto our hanging decoration with a choice of words. Our original design featured the wording; ‘Northumberland – Our Happy Place’. Last year, after lots of requests, we also printed a few more wording options including; ‘Northumberland – My Happy Place’.

Since then this regional icon was destroyed – I’ve chatted to so many people at craft fairs and it really was (and still is) a loved and cherished place.  Despite the disappointment, it doesn’t take away the positive memories so many have and we’ll continue to honour our beautiful Northumberland and North East region – for 2024, we’ve now included a choice in the wording including the option of ‘Forever Sycamore Gap’ as a lasting tribute to the tree and area.

Our hanging decoration would make a lovely gift as a reminder of this special place or send to friends or family who have experienced Northumberland and found it to be their Happy Place.   All our decorations and ornaments are hand pressed from our studio in Northumberland and are handmade so there may be slight difference in colour due to the printing and pressing process.

The round ceramic decoration measures roughly 7cm and comes with a ribbon / twine and is printed on one side only – the back is plain white. All our hanging decorations are packaged in tissue paper and branded sticker.
