How it all began…

Starting my own business and designing personalised art work wasn’t something I had initially planned to do. Although I’ve always loved being creative and looking back at my childhood, the seeds of creativity and working for myself were planted at an early age.

My parents were dairy farmers so were self-employed and both have oodles of creativity.  So perhaps it was only a matter of time although I didn’t start that way…

When Bell met Walsh

I had a completely different career path as an Academic Researcher. For my first job I moved to Birmingham and as I didn’t know anyone, went with colleagues to a local pub quiz, where I met my future husband Terry.  My dodgy knowledge and love of 70’s music didn’t deter him and after 2 years, I managed to persuade him to move back to my rural home in Northumberland.  A house, 2 cats, marriage and 2 children later, I started rethinking my career choice.

Terry was and still is a multi-media designer and has ran his own design company since 2000.  With his encouragement, I made our first Framed Name for my daughter to commemorate her birth.  Friends and family were impressed and so I made a few and took them along to a local craft fair and it all took off from there.

Framed Names

I went part time and in 2007 and we started our first venture Framed Names. The business soon grew and I loved it, whilst at the same time getting rather disillusioned with my academic career.  After a lot of thought and a good dose of courage, I left the day job and Terry and I started Bell and Walsh back in 2012.

We expanded into a larger keepsake range offering other products made by UK companies but at the end of 2016 decided to go back to our roots and passion of focusing on our own personalised art range.  We’ve taken a break for a year as we moved house but we’re back with more enthusiasm than ever…

What others say about us…

I have just received the name frame! I genuinely cannot thank you enough-it is beautiful and I really appreciate all the effort you went to so that I could have it in time for the occasion! I will definitely use you again and recommend you to friends and family looking for a unique gift and fabulous service.

So so happy with the frame and could go on all day 🙂

Have a lovely weekend and genuinely thank you so so much!!

Hi Sarah, I just wanted to let you know that I was really really pleased with the framed names. The gifts were for my 3 year old niece and nephew (twins) so it was important for me that the presents were special and I was really impressed with the presentation and quality. They were really well packaged too, so no damage in the post. Everyone who saw them thought they were beautiful, so definitely some brownie points earned for me! Thankyou once again and I will certainly recommend you to others.

Thank you so much for your email. I can confirm that i received the item yesterday, it is truly beautiful. It was packaged so nicely, you take a lot of care, love and attention into what you do and it really shows. I am so pleased with the item and cannot wait to take it with me on Saturday.

Thank you so much for your excellent product, customer service and personal communications.

I certainly hope to do business with you again, in the mean time i wish you every success with what you do.

My goodness what brilliant service! Just arrived home from work to find my neighbour on doorstep with my package which she had kindly accepted on my behalf. Thank you so much for amazing turnround. It is needed for christening on Saturday and I expected to have to say “your pressie is in the post”, now I will appear unusually organised!
