What is a Naming Day Celebration?
Whilst the name of the baby is officially recorded at your local Register Office, this is often done by just the parents and involves some paperwork. As a result, many parents want to have more of a celebration with friends and family to welcome the new arrival. Two of the main options are a christening / baptism or a Naming Day Ceremony. For our handy summary of both these options take a look at our ‘Christening or Naming Ceremony‘ post.
If you’ve reached the decision that a religious event is not for you then you’re on your way to a Naming Day celebration.
What needs organising?
Organising an event is stressful at the best of times. Furthermore, when you combine this with caring for a young child and also trying to feed and water just about everyone you know…it’s daunting. For that reason, a little help is at hand. We’ve put together a simple Naming Day celebration checklist for you. Whilst it might not answer everything, we hope it reduces the stress just that little bit.
